Manager Responsibilities

All managers are valued by the league and the NLL Board of Directors thanks you.  If at any point you feel the need for support from the League please contact a Director on Duty or any board member.  You can also contact the Coach ??? or Player Agents Dennis Scott/Steve Vitale.

Overcommunication with your parents is encouraged.  Please see the GameChanger section on this page to be sure to setup your team.  The app can be used for schedule visibility as well as messaging to a group or individuals.  It does integrate with our website.  Schedule changes from the website will sync to GC but items in GC do NOT sync to the website.

A team banner is encouraged for the opening day parade and can also be hung near your dugout during games in the season.  Teams can create a homemade banner(good teambuilding activity) or one can be purchased from Aldan Press(one of our sponsors).  You are not expected to pay for the banner, asking team parents for $5-10 each is encouraged.

For practice, you will need baseballs/softballs.  Unfortunately, the league currently does not supply teams with practice balls.  There may be some available in the swap shed but you will likely need to purchase/collect some balls for practice.

Competitive divisions require score submissions, but ALL coaches(Tee Ball, Rookie, Minor and Major) are asked to submit a 3-4 sentence summary of the game.  For Tee Ball and Rookie, one coach can submit on behalf of both teams.  Managers please speak before/after the game to make sure different players get mentioned.  Minors/Majors should have a summary submitted by the winning team.  Please mention players from both teams when possible. All submissions should go to [email protected]

Game day

***Transition to player pitch will take place around beginning of may.  DON'T WAIT TO START PITCHERS PRACTICING.  Have your players begin throwing to targets and think about pitching at all practices.

T-Ball

Majors/Minors

Pre-Season
Evaluations
  • This is your chance to see the players display their skills.
  • This year evaluations will be held on 12/14/2024 from 10-2 at Dominican College.
  • Details will be communicated beforehand and you will be provided a list of players prior to the evaluation date.
  • If there are any players who have been requested to play in a higher division, they will be identified ahead of time and communicated.
Draft Teams
  • We will hold a draft at a TBD location at some time in January 2025.
  • Draft format will be a snake order.  For example, if there are 4 teams the order will be 1, 2, 3, 4 for round one and 4, 3, 2, 1 for round two.  It will then continue in this way until all eligible players have been selected.  If there are late registrations which we accept, those player(s) will be added to the next team(s) in draft order.
  • Board members (Dir. of Baseball/Softball, player agent, etc) will be at the draft to run the draft as well as try and assist with aspects of competitive balance.
Practice
  • Gym time will be assigned as it is provided via the Nanuet Schools.  This time is a premium so if you cannot make a time please communicate so the time can be offered to another team.
  • Field use will be scheduled through a board member(TBD), but viewing the calendar and field availability will allow you to request time.
Regular Season
  • Raking/Lining the field is the responsibility of the home team.  If the DOD is able to, they will help but depending on the number of games, they may not be able to prep all fields.  We will have a 'training' for managers to show where materials and equipment are located as well as the proper procedure.
  • Prepare a lineup card to provide your opponent as well as our press box. (If you are the home team, try to recruit a volunteer parent, older sibling to keep the scoreboard and announce - the kids really like hearing their name announced)
  • Within 24 hours of your game, submit the game score to [email protected].  Winning team, include a 3-4 sentence summary of the game, mentioning players from both teams.
  • Baseball - along with your game score, you must submit pitch count for BOTH TEAMS.  Pitch counts between the teams should be verified after every inning
