The 9 yr old baseball all-stars wrapped up their tournament with a 15-8 win over Suffern. John Sivori led the team with another solid performance on the mound with 5 Ks over 3 innings.
Offensively, Nanuet/West Nyack had runners all over the basepaths. Joe Buzzell had 2 hits and 2 RBI and Hunter Clark had 2 hits with a big 2 RBI to spark one of the team's rallies. Clark, Jake Philip, and Dylan Fiorentino all had 2 runs scored.
Nanuet-West Nyack’s 11u all-star softball team had a great run in the 12u District Tournament. They lost 16-6 to Pearl River last night, despite the effort of putting up 1 to 2 runs in each of the first 4 innings.
They had 4 hits on the day, with a double from each Maeve Reynolds and Addison McDonough, and singles by Maliyah Clersainville and Madison Wray. There were 14 stolen bases, 3 each from Amaya Santana, Ayla Theofanides, and Hope Jones, while Santana also worked 3 walks. Ayla Theofanides and Kiersten Nally did well on the mound.
The 11u softball all-star team has a lot to be proud of, as they earned third place in the 12u tournament. Congrats girls!
The 11u Nanuet/West Nyack Softball All-Stars are still battling back in the 12u district tournament. They played Suffern last night and won 18-8. Their bats were on fire with 16 hits, including 3 home runs! Hope Jones was 3 for 4 with a single, a double, and a home run. Madison Wray was 3 for 4 with 2 singles and a home run. Amaya Santana was 3 for 5 with a single, a double, and a home run. Addison McDonough was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a triple.
McDonough was solid catching behind the plate, while Jones and Santana made key defensive plays in the game.
On the mound, Kiersten Nally and Riley Eliazo combined to contribute to the win.
The team plays at 8 pm Tuesday and will face the loser of Pearl River and New City.
Nanuet-West Nyack 10U Softball All-Stars Fell to Pearl River and South Orangetown Despite Tough Fight Nanuet
West Nyack 10U softball All-Stars fell to Pearl River Saturday 17-7 after a rain delay Friday night and game continuation Saturday. The team fought hard against very tough PR pitching, scoring 7 runs via aggressive base running and fourteen stolen bases led by Emma McDowell with three stolen bases.
Runs were scored by Alanna Castro, Emma Goldstein, Harper Masi, Emma McDowell, Elizabeth Serbe, Shannan Ulrich and Emily Zvirbulis. NWN pitching was led by Madison Krause, with Emma Goldstein and Madison Medaglia as relief. Nanuet-West Nyack 10U softball All-Stars fell to South Orangetown Saturday 15-8. Emma Goldstein pitched a complete game and six hits were collected by NWN: Shannan Ulrich (2), Harper Masi (1), Caroline Trombley (1), Emily Zvirbulis (1) and Emma Goldstein (1). Elizabeth Serbe led the way with stolen bases with four. The team is looking forward to their next tournament this summer.
Nanuet/West Nyack 9 yr old All Stars lost a tough game 10-6 against Nyack/Valley Cottage/Congers. Nanuet/West Nyack trailed 9-1 in the 4th before battling back. Spark plug at bats by Dylan Fiorentino and Cam Jackson led the attempted come back. Ryan Foti, Skyler Colon, and Hunter Clark led the offense in the middle of the lineup getting on base 8 ties between them. John Sivori was a stopper in relief coming in to stall the NVCC offense surrendering only 2 runs. Nanuet/West Nyack will have their next game against New City at 8 on Monday.
West Nyack Nanuet 12u Allstars defeated NVCC 12u All Stars 3-2 on Monday after taking the lead late in the game. West Nyack Nanuet 12u Allstars trailed 2-1 in the top of the fifth inning when Lucas Ng singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.
The pitching was strong on both sides. West Nyack Nanuet 12u Allstars pitchers struck out 12, while NVCC 12u All Stars pitchers sat down seven.
Luke Peterson was on the pitcher's mound for the West Nyack Nanuet 12u Allstars. The righty surrendered two runs on one hit over five innings, striking out 11 and walking one.
West Nyack Nanuet 12u Allstars tallied one home run on the day. Luke Fazulak went deep in the third inning.
Luke Fazulak, Luke Peterson, Lucas Ng, and Jesse Rizzo each managed one hit to lead the West Nyack Nanuet 12u Allstars.
Nanuet/West Nyack 9 yr old All-Stars had a battle against Stony Point. In a game they ultimately lost 15-8 Nanuet/West Nyack showed fight in battling back twice to take the lead. They did have plenty of baserunners during the game led by Jake Philip who was on base twice as well as Hunter Clark and Skyler Colon who were each on base three times. Some defensive miscues did them in, but there were also some great plays by Skyler Colon and John Sivori. The team returns to the field Sunday night at 7 against Nyack/Valley Cottage/Congers
The Nanuet/West Nyack 11u all-stars held their own last night in the district 12u tournament. They first defeated Suffern, 17-16. Kiersten Nally pitched a complete game with 9 strikeouts. Ayla Theofanides (3 for 4) and Addison McDonough (2 for 2 with a triple) led the way at the plate. Madison Wray and Hope Jones were each 2 for 2, while Natalie Mariscal, Kristin Pfister, Amaya Santana, and Maeve Reynolds each collected a hit.
In game 2 of the double header, the team lost to the strong New City team, 20-0. Ayla Theofanides held her own at the mound and Hope Jones had the lone hit with a double.
11u continues on Sunday night at 6 pm at Suffern Little League.
